59th Weekly Meeting of Departments Directors

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the fifty-ninth weekly meeting of the directors of the Academy’s departments on Wednesday 25 Jumada Al-Ula 1443H corresponding to 29 December 2021G, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.

His Excellency opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees, then giving them a brief summary of his recent foreign visit, where he held many important meetings in the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Guinea, culminating in the conclusion of important agreements and partnerships for the Academy that would enhance its standing and reputation, and support its efforts and its various activities within the member states and Muslim communities in the world.

His Excellency then spoke about his meeting with the new Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and congratulating him on taking office at the General Secretariat of the Organization. He also took the opportunity to introduce the Academy and its objectives, projects and future programs as stated in its strategic plan. His Excellency also stated that during the meeting with His Excellency the Secretary General of the organization, they discussed the outputs of the organization’s foreign ministers meeting last held in Pakistan, where the ministers decided to assign the Academy to form a committee of the Ummah’s scholars to discuss and debate with the scholars of Afghanistan on women’s issues and their work.

The meeting then discussed the items of decisions issued by the previous meeting, and several decisions were issued, the most important of which are:

  • Assigning the Research Department to present an urgent concept for the upcoming meeting with Taliban scholars in Afghanistan, with a proposal of the names of scholars from the Academy’s delegation.
  • Assigning the Department of International Cooperation to present an integrated concept for a jurisprudential scientific symposium targeting Muslims in the Scandinavian countries.
  • Assigning the Conferences Department to undertake the task of communicating with the participants in the seminars and sessions of the Academy instead of the Research Department.
