His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired on Thursday 30 Rajab 1443H corresponding to 03 March 2022G the thirty-second periodic meeting of divisions heads from his residence in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
At the outset of the meeting, His Excellency the Secretary General welcomed the heads of divisions and thanked them for attending these periodic meetings because of their paramount importance, as they are concerned with the details of major policies and plans set by the departments, and which the divisions undertake to implement meticulously and professionally in perfect harmony with each other, which paves the way for the overall realization of the goals of the Academy and the success of all its endeavors. His Excellency stressed that the divisions are the first line in implementing all the decisions taken in the periodic meetings and the policies included in the five-year strategic plan of the Academy, which places them in a very sensitive and important position for the success and development of the Academy.
His Excellency also thanked all employees for their valuable and sincere efforts to advance the work of the Academy, noting the spirit of cooperation and coordination that he witnessed among them in order to accomplish the activities, events, and programs of the Academy and to raise its name and reputation among the nations. In the same context, His Excellency called on everyone to do everything in their power to achieve the objectives of the department to which they belong, and to coordinate and cooperate with the rest of the departments in order to implement all the programs and activities of the Academy. He also urged them to participate in constructive proposals and creative ideas in order to contribute to enriching the various outputs of the Academy.
Then His Excellency congratulated everyone on the occasion of the completion of the printing of the second edition of the Book of Resolutions and Recommendations of the Academy in French, after an interruption of nearly two decades (22 years), as the date of the last edition in French dates back to the end of the nineties. Then, His Excellency informed the attendees about the content of a letter addressed to him by His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region, in which His Highness expressed his thanks and appreciation to the delegation of the Academy that visited the emirate about a month ago. On this occasion, His Excellency renewed the thanks of the General Secretariat of the Academy to the headquarters state and its people for its continuous support and generous care for the Academy and its employees.
The meeting discussed a number of issues and topics, and took a number of decisions regarding them, the most important of which are:
- Re-drafting the biographies of the Academy’s scholars, so that each biography includes the place and date of birth, then academic qualifications, then scientific experiences including writings, conference research and the like, then practical and administrative experiences, and it specifically states the date of his acceptance as a delegate or appointed member of the Academy.
- Forming a specialized committee from different departments concerned with collecting, drafting, and editing the biographies of all the prominent figures of the Academy, both living and dead, and issuing them in a unified book.
- Uploading the opening and closing remarks of the recorded old sessions and seminars on the Academy’s website in order to spread the benefit from them, and to preserve an important part of the Academy’s history.
- Continuing to review the Academy’s website periodically in the three languages to upgrade it in form and content.
