President of the League of Sahel Scholars visits IIFA

His Eminence Dr. Abu Bakr Waler Mado, President of the League of Scholars, Preachers and Imams of the Sahel Countries and a member of the Chadian Parliament, and his accompanying delegation visited on Monday 19 Dhu al-Hijjah 1443H corresponding to 18 July 2022G the General Secretariat of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) in Jeddah. He was received by His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy.

His Eminence expressed his great thanks and great appreciation to His Excellency the Secretary General for the nice reception and warm welcome, praising the major achievements and profound changes witnessed by the General Secretariat of the Academy since His Excellency took the helm. His Eminence also expressed the high appreciation of the League and the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in the Republic of Chad to the Academy for its solid scientific value and being an intellectual beacon that radiates its light on all Muslim countries and the entire universe. And in order to benefit from these distinguished scientific capabilities and abilities of the Academy, His Eminence expressed his aspiration to conclude a cooperation agreement between the Academy and the League, which would be the basis for a prosperous phase of close cooperation between the two institutions. He also expressed his aspiration for the Academy to support the Council by holding joint specialized seminars with the Council revolving around the issues and concerns of African countries and the Sahel region in particular, specifically the issues of extremism and terrorism and the need to confront them intellectually and culturally, in addition to providing intensive training courses throughout the year to develop and raise the level of the Chad Republic’s scholars and the Association of Scholars of the Sahel.

For his part, His Excellency the Secretary General expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Eminence for his visit to the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy and valued the efforts of the League of Scholars of the Sahel Countries to educate Muslims in the region about the danger of extremism and terrorism and the importance of spreading a culture of moderation, temperance, and peace. He also expressed the Academy’s full readiness to cooperate with the League of Scholars of the Sahel countries in the field of joint organization of conferences and symposia that provide objective treatments and effective solutions to the problems of contemporary life facing Muslims in Africa, stressing that the League will find all support and encouragement from the Academy to enable it to carry out its mission in an optimal manner.

The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Sheikh Haroun Mohamed Saleh Al-Issa, Commissioner of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs of the Republic of Chad in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Mohamed Walid Al-Idrissi, Director of the Media, Public Relations, Information Technology and Communication at the Academy, and Mr. Mourad TLiLi, Adviser to the Secretary General of the Academy for Media Affairs.

He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
