Dean of Consuls, Consul of the State of Palestine visits IIFA

On Thursday 18 Rajab 1444H, corresponding to 09 February 2023G, His Excellency Ambassador Mahmoud Yahya Al-Assadi, Dean of the Consuls of the Arab Countries and the Consul General of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, welcomed his Excellency and his accompanying delegation, and thanked him for this kind visit, appreciating his keenness to strengthen the bonds of communication, cooperation and coordination between the Academy and the Palestinian scientific and religious institutions and centers. His Excellency also took the opportunity to express his sincere thanks and appreciation to the State of Palestine for its continuous support to the Academy, then gave him an overview of the Academy’s activities, its various programs, and the goals it seeks to achieve, especially with regard to enhancing awareness of the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the resolutions and statements of the Academy, referring to the issuance of many resolutions and statements by the Academy about the importance of defending Al-Aqsa and empowering the Palestinian people with their fundamental and human right to live in safety, security and stability on their land and the land of their ancestors. His Excellency concluded by informing His Excellency the Consul General that the Grand Mufti of Palestine is coming to Jeddah in the coming days to participate in the twenty-fifth Session of the Academy, which will be held in the next few days in Jeddah.

For his part, His Excellency the Consul General expressed his great pleasure and honor to visit the Academy and his thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the Secretary General for the good reception and warm welcome, stressing his country’s keenness to establish strong and sustainable relations with the Academy and to benefit from it in addressing the just causes of the Palestinian people, especially the issue of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, such as Al-Aqsa and Al-Haram Ebrahimi and others. He also expressed his deep appreciation for the tremendous efforts made by His Excellency in this context, praising His Excellency’s great keenness to unite the voice of the Ummah, unify, in developing joint Islamic action, and his steadfast defense of the Palestinian people and the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He concluded by expressing his aspiration to attend the 25th Session of the Academy and his thanks and gratitude to the Academy for inviting and involving scholars from Palestine.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mr. Moeen Jawdat Al-Sawafiri, Consul at the Consulate General in Jeddah, Mr. Mohamed Mondher El Chouk, Director of Cabinet and Protocol Affairs at the Academy, Dr. Alhagi Manta Drammeh, Head of the International Cooperation and External Relations Division at the Academy, and Mr. Mourad TLiLi, Advisor to the Secretary General for Media and public relations Affairs.
