In order to enhance teamwork among the Academy’s departments, continuing coordination and consultation on various matters and initiating new actions to achieve the goals aspirations, H.E. Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, chaired the ninety-ninth weekly meeting of the departments on Monday 11 Shawal 1444 corresponding to 1st May 2023.
His Excellency opened the meeting by extending his congratulations on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, asking the Lord to bless everyone’s fasting, payers and good deeds and to return it to us and the Ummah in the best of returns, and may He grant security and prosperity to our Ummah. His Excellency expressed his condoleances on Professor Abdulwahab Abu Suleiman, former member of the Council of Senior Scholars and Academy member, who passed away on the 26th Ramadan 1444, corresponding to 17th April 2023, after a scholarly career rich in knowledge.
His Excellency then talked about his official visit to the Republic of Iraq aimed at strengthening the relations of cooperation and integration with the main scientific and religious institutions in the Republic of Iraq, during which he met with the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament and a number of political and religious figures, and also gave lectures at Abu Hanifa Mosque and the Grand Imam College. He also talked about the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Council and the Iraqi Fiqh Academy, as well as between the Academy and the Sunni Waqf Fund. He also talked about his visit to the Shiite Waqf Fund and his meeting with the Court Executive Director, Dr. Haider Al-Shammari.
His Excellency then spoke about his participation in the Hassani Lectures in the Kingdom of Morocco, under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, as well as his participation in the Hashemite Lectures in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where he gave a lecture on Imam al-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him.
His Excellency also discussed the five-year strategic plan for the Academy and asked all directors to review the plan with the employees of their departments and submit a detailed report on what has been achieved.
The meeting discussed the decisions issued by the previous meeting, and several new decisions were issued, notably:
- Sending letters of thanks to the Consul General of the Republic of Iraq, the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Head of the Sunni Foundation, the President of the Shia foundation, the President of the Iraqi Fiqh Academy, the Dean of the Grand Imam College, and the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, the President of the Higher Scientific Council of Morocco, and the Jordanian Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places.
- To start calling for participants to the scientific symposium entitled: The use of breast milk for premature babies, in cooperation with the Islamic Organization of Medical Sciences, and with the participation Academy’s members and experts.
