As part of the efforts of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy to strengthen cooperation and partnership with the official scientific institutions and centers of the OIC Member States, H.E. Dr. Mishaan Al-Khazraji, Head of the Sunni Waqf Diwan in Iraq, and H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, signed a cooperation agreement on Sunday, 18 Ramadan 1444, corresponding to 9 April 2023, at the headquarters of the Waqf in Umm Al-Qura Mosque in Baghdad.
H.E. Dr. Al-Khazraji said after signing the agreement,: “This agreement is part of the development of religious institutions at the local and international levels, focusing on religious discourse to serve the nation’s issues, spreading moderation and renouncing intolerance and extremism in order to achieve the preservation of the principles of peaceful coexistence, harmony and tolerance advocated by Islam, hoping that this agreement will be the beginning of close cooperation between the two institutions in areas of common interest.”
For his part, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano expressed his joy and pleasure at this agreement, which expresses the firm and permanent willingness of the Academy to enter into strategic partnerships with leading intellectual, scientific and administrative institutions in the Islamic world, praising the efforts of the Waqf in the field of outreach and integration between the different components of the Iraqi people and its leaders.
The meeting was attended by members of the House of Representatives, the Iraqi Fiqh Academy and undersecretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including H.E. Mr. Muhammad Samir Naqshbandi, Consul General and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, and Mr. Muhammad Adnan al-Fihri, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs of the Academy, Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa, Head of Protocols.
