The Secretariat General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy held its 109th weekly meeting of departments’ directors on Wednesday 19 Rabi al-Awal 1445, corresponding to October 4, 2023, at the Academy’s headquarters in Jeddah. It was chaired by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy.
His Excellency welcomed the participants and spoke about his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which aims to strengthen cooperation with the country’s leading scientific and religious institutions. His Excellency met the Iranian Foreign Minister, Amir Hossein Abdollahian, and the Secretary General of the World Academy for the Rapprochement of Islamic Schools, Dr. Hamid Shahriari. During the visit, an MoC was signed between the Iran’s Academy and IIFA.
The visit falls within the framework of the Academy’s strategic plan and objectives, particularly with regard to combating extremism, fanaticism, and terrorism, and promoting a culture of openness and coexistence among followers of religions and sects, in the hope of closing ranks, bringing people closer, eliminating temptations in all their forms, and strengthening cooperation for the progress of the Ummah.
The meeting discussed the decisions of the previous meeting and new decisions were taken, notably:
- Periodic review of the Academy’s website’s news and preparing a weekly report in this regard.
- Searching for specialist companies in libraries management, in order to improve the Academy’s library.
- The Gifts Committee to continue sending the Academy’s publications to various universities, libraries and other relevant organizations.
