H.E. Prof. Badran bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar, President of King Saud University, received H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, on Monday 24 Rabi al-Awal 1445, corresponding to October 9, 2023, at the University’s headquarters in Riyadh.

The President of the University began his speech by welcoming his guest and the accompanying delegation, and expressing his pleasure at this visit, which confirms the appreciation and respect of the Secretary-General of the Academy for the university in which he studied, and the role model he has been for distinguished and exemplary students. In this respect, the President noted that King Saud University follows the careers of its alumni and celebrates their achievements and contributions to their countries and communities’ development and prosperity. He also emphasized that the distinction and excellence of its graduates in the fields of education, scientific research and community service, represent a source of pride and joy for the leaders and people of the Land of the Two Holy Mosques.

For his part, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the President of the University for his warm welcome, as well as his pride in being one of the alumni of this prestigious university, which has given him everything and made him what he is today in terms of success, leadership and willpower – thanks to Allah the Almighty – then thanks to distinguished education of this university, emphasizing that he will remain loyal and grateful to this university and to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia for the great care and attention he has received.

His Excellency presented an overview of the Academy’s history, vision, mission, as well as its objectives, means and membership, underlining the Academy’s intellectual status as the highest and leading jurisprudential reference to which OIC Member states refer for Shariah provisions on calamities, developments and current issues of concern to Muslims worldwide. His Excellency then praised the continued support and great attention that the Academy receives from the leadership and people of the headquarters country, headed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah bless them.

At the end, His Excellency expressed his aspiration to sign a cooperation agreement between the two institutions aimed at developing a complementary approach that would enable both parties to benefit from each other’s potentials in scientific research and academic cooperation. His Excellency concluded his speech by inviting the President of the University to visit the Secretariat General of the Academy in Jeddah to continue discussing ways of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two institutions.
