Signing of an MoC between IIFA and Iran-based World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought

Aiming to achieve intellectual convergence and cognitive integration between the Ummah’s jurists and scholars, and to encourage cooperation, integration, and rapprochement between jurists of various schools of law regarding what is necessarily known about religion, out of respect for the mosques, respect for differences, and commitment to the ethics of juristic debate, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the Academy, and H.E. Sheikh Dr. Hamid Shahriari, Secretary-General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), signed a cooperation agreement between the two sides, at noon on Monday, 17th Rabi’ al-Awwal, 1445 AHcorresponding to October 2, 2023, in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The meeting began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, then His Eminence Sheikh Al-Shahriari delivered a speech in which he expressed WFPIST’s great pride in the participation of H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano in its annual conference this year, and the International Islamic Fiqh Academy’s reliable and pioneering authority in the field of spreading the values of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence. He also expressed his great happiness with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions, hoping that this would be a blessed beginning for close and deep cooperation between the two institutions in various fields of common interest.

For his part, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano expressed his sincere thanks and great appreciation for this honorable occasion, which represents a new stage for building a strategic partnership between the two institutions in all the fields in which they are active, especially in the field of spreading the approach of moderation, the values of moderation, tolerance, coexistence, acceptance of others, and the rejection of extremism, violence and extremism in thought, behavior and practice.

The two parties then signed the agreement in the presence of members of the Executive Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) . The meeting was also attended by Mr. Mohamed Adnan Al-Fihri, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mr. Amjad Al-Mansi, Head of the Protocol Department of the Academy.
