As part of the objectives of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) to strengthen cooperation and communication with ifta authorities and institutions of collective Ijtihad within the OIC Member States and considering the scientific standing of the Islamic Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League (MWL), H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, and H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Zaid, Secretary of the Islamic Fiqh Council, signed an MoC on Monday, 08 Ramadan 1445, corresponding to 18 March 2023, in Mecca, on the sidelines of the conference titled “Building Bridges between Islamic Schools” organized by the MWL’s Islamic Fiqh Council in Makkah.
This MoC aims to strengthen Islamic unity, spread the culture of tolerance and moderation, and promote constructive dialogue between religious scholars from different schools of law. It also aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties in scientific research by encouraging research and studies that serve Islamic brotherhood, promoting tolerance and moderation, and spreading them widely. It also aims to strengthen cooperation and communication and close coordination between the two institutions in organizing conferences and seminars, holding workshops and training, exchanging publications and resources, and representing each other in conferences and seminars of mutual interest.
In order to implement this MoC, both parties agreed to form a specialized committee that determines the aspects of cooperation between them and the methods and mechanisms of implementation in accordance with the vision contained in the MoC and has the right to turn to whomever it deems appropriate to help implement the terms of the MoC.
