H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received Dr. Meshaan Mohi Alwan Al-Khazraji, President of the Sunni Waqf Board in the Republic of Iraq, who was leading an Iraqi delegation visiting the Secretariat General of the Academy in Jeddah, on Thursday 11 Ramadan 1445, corresponding to 21 March 2024.
His Excellency welcomed his guest and the accompanying delegation and thanked them for their visit to the Academy. He also reiterated his thanks and gratitude to the President of the Waqf and his staff for the hospitality and warm welcome they had extended to him during his visit to the Republic of Iraq a year ago. His Excellency concluded his speech by reiterating the Academy’s appreciation and gratitude to the leaders and people of the Republic of Iraq for their continued support of the Academy and wishing the Republic of Iraq continued safety, stability, and prosperity.
For his part, the President of the Iraqi Waqf thanked the Academy for its warm welcome and for sending a delegation to visit Iraq last year, saying: “We’ve had the honor of visiting H.E. Professor Koutoub Sano, and we discussed with him Iraq’s membership of the Academy and its relations with it, as well as some issues relating to the living reality of the Muslim and Arab world. The meeting was fruitful and beneficial, and we look forward to further discussions to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between the children of the Ummah.”
The meeting was attended by Mr. Noureddine Mohammed Hamid, Director General of the Department of National Celebrations and Mawlid Al-Nabawi, Dr. Abdul Abbas, Advisor to the President of the Sunni Waqf Board for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Hamid Al-Sheikh Hamad, President of the Association of Religious Scholars in Iraq, in addition to Mr. Mohammed Adnan Al-Fihri, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa, Head of Protocols at the Academy.
