Born in 1960 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al-Malik earned a master’s degree in Health Administration and Policy from Harvard University, a Certificate in Executive Medical Administration and a Diploma in Medical Administration from the American College of Executive Physicians. His Eminence has served on the Board of Directors of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, Al-Aghar Group and numerous international institutions, as well as a consultant to the World Health Organization and the U.S. Commission on Accreditation of Global Health Facilities, as well as to a number of international and health care organizations. Prior to his appointment as Director General of the World Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), His Eminence served as Advisor and General Supervisor of the General Department of International Cooperation, Advisor to the Minister of Education for Health Affairs at the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia, and Secretary General of the Saudi National Committee for Education, Culture and Science. In addition to his work as a consultant in Allergology and Immunology at the King Abdulaziz Medical City in the National Guard, His Eminence has served as the Head of the Knowledge Industries Sector at the Saudi General Investment Authority and headed the Knowledge Industries Strategy Development Team, the Deputy Executive Director (Medical Director) of the Central Region Medical Services in the National Guard Health Affairs. His Eminence is considered a leading expert in creating strategic partnerships and collaboration with international organizations, due to his initiatives at the educational, cultural and health levels. His Eminence is the author of seven books and is also known as an accomplished poet.
