H.E. Mr. Imad bin Saleh Al-Kharashi, Governor of the Saudi General Authority for Awqaf, received H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday afternoon, 4 Jumada Al-Ula 1446, corresponding to 07 November 2024, at the General Authority’s headquarters in Riyadh.

The Governor of the Awqaf Authority welcomed the Secretary General and his accompanying delegation, thanking them for this visit, praising the significant role played by the Academy in the field of issuing Sharia rulings on issues of interest to Muslims around the world, as an international scientific reference, and expressing his desire to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss ways to enhance them in areas that serve their shared aspirations, in addition to discussing developments and topics of common interest and exchanging experiences and expertise in the field of endowments, their development and management.

For his part, the Secretary General expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Awqaf Authority for the excellent reception and warm welcome. His Excellency then provided a comprehensive overview of the Academy’s establishment, vision, mission, objectives, and members, pointing out that the Academy is the leading religious authority to which the OIC’s member states refer in order to clarify Sharia rulings on issues of concern to Muslims all over the world. He also praised the continuous support and care given to the Academy by the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia.

In conclusion, the Secretary-General expressed his aspiration to sign the cooperation agreement between the two institutions in the near future in order to develop an integrated path that enables both sides to benefit from their joint potential in the field of Awqaf. His Excellency concluded his speech by inviting the Governor of the General Authority to visit the Secretariat General of the Academy in Jeddah to continue discussing means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two institutions in all fields.
