6th Periodic Meeting of the Heads of the Academy’s Departments

The Secretary-General of the Academy, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano, chaired via videoconference from his residence in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco on Thursday 8 Jamada al-Akhira 1442, corresponding to 21 January 2021, the sixth periodic meeting of the heads of the Academy’s divisions.

His Excellency reviewed the most important results of his official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco including his meetings with senior Moroccan officials, under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Saad Eddin El Othmani, Head of Government, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Al-Tawfiq, Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, H.E. the Secretary-General of the Supreme Scientific Council and its honorable members.

His Excellency informed about the resumption of cooperation and communication relations between the Academy and Morocco’s leading scientific institutions, particularly the Supreme Scientific Council. His Excellency also informed the Academy that the Moroccan government will settle all its arrears and notable contributions to the Academy’s budget for the new year, and affirmed the Moroccan authorities’ readiness to host one of the next sessions of the Academy.

His Excellency then expressed his joy at the publication of the fourth edition of the resolutions and recommendations of the Academy after an eleven-year hiatus, which included all the resolutions and recommendations issued by the Academy. His Excellency expressed on this occasion his thanks and appreciation to the research, studies, fatwas, encyclopedias department for this achievement, and to the media and public relations department for publishing the third issue of the monthly newsletter, appreciating the language review committees’ role in distinguishing this issue in terms of quality and competence.

His Excellency also mentioned that the regular publication of the monthly newsletter represents a qualitative leap in the Academy’s work since its inception four decades ago, due to its great importance in the presentation of the Academy and its activities.

His Excellency concluded the meeting by reassuring about the latest arrangements for the scientific forum to be held on Tuesday 26 January 2021 between the Shariah boards and committees of Islamic institutions and banks in the GCC States, and it is expected that about seventy members of these Shariah councils and committees will participate in it.
