Statement on the Attacks near the Danish Embassy in Islamabad

Praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the worlds, may the blessings and peace be upon our master Muḥammad, the last of prophets, on his family, and all his companions.

The Secretariat General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy expresses its indignation at the attack committed in front of the Danish Embassy in the city of Islamabad in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Monday, 02/06/2008; this attack caused many deaths, 8 people, and countless injuries.

The Academy recalls and reiterates the positions of jurists and all Muslim scholars which categorically denounce all terrorist acts, their methods, their actions, their perpetrators and wherever they are committed. It also denounces and disapproves of the religiously unlawful reactions of some people who appear here and there in response to blasphemy against the Messenger of Allah PBUH in Denmark. The Muslim religion calls for the sanctity of the human soul and the need to preserve and protect it. It adopts the principle of scientific debate supported by plausible arguments and valid evidence in its intellectual stance against the defamation campaigns against Islam, and its noble Prophet.

The Academy confirms that such actions are religiously rejected because they do not win the case of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Rather, they offer an opportunity to repeat the attacks against Islam, especially since they justify the accusations of terrorism that are levelled at Muslims and Islam.

At the same time, the Academy reiterates its call to the Danish government to pursue anyone who was behind the blasphemy committed against the Prophet of Islam and the Book of Allah The Almighty, to demand an apology for the outrages committed, and hopes that the international community, as states and organizations, will act seriously and swiftly to put an end to the offenses lavished against religions and their symbols. The Academy also calls for the enactment of stringent and severe international laws to prevent the aggravation of this issue which attempted to undermine the last of the Prophets – PBUH – and the Quran.

The Academy extends its deepest condolences to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, its President, Government and people, and also to the families of the victims. It beseeches Allah the Almighty to grant mercy and leniency to these victims, provide their families with patience, and heal the injured. May Allah guide us all to the right path of those who obey His judgments.

And may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.
