A delegation of imams from the Republic of Serbia visits IIFA

Within the framework of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy’s (IIFA) endeavor to build a strategic partnership and close cooperation with the leading scientific and intellectual institutions in the countries of Muslim communities and based on the Academy’s keenness to communicate and coordinate with the supervisors of religious affairs in Muslim communities in order to preserve their religious identity while adhering to the requirements of citizenship and residency in those societies, His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received today a large delegation consisting of imams of mosques in the Republic of Serbia, led by Dr. Anwar Getic, Dean of the College of Islamic Studies in the Republic of Serbia, on Thursday 10 Dhul-Qa’dah 1443H corresponding to 09 June 2022G at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

His Excellency welcomed the honorable delegation and commended the efforts of the College of Islamic Studies in the field of developing and training qualified religious cadres that bear the responsibility of guiding, directing and caring for Muslims within their communities. His Excellency also commended the efforts of the College to train imams and guides through seminars and shariah sessions, and keenness to enable them to understand the developments and calamities of the era in order to deal with them in a manner that meets the aspirations and needs of Muslims in the Republic of Serbia and the Balkans in general.

In support of these efforts, His Excellency expressed the Academy’s full readiness to provide intellectual aid, shariah support and backing to the supervisors of religious affairs in Serbia by organizing training courses for them in fatwas and guidance to raise their levels and strengthen their perceptions and enable them to deduce and infer in calamities and developments.

His Excellency concluded by calling on imams and guides to continue to carry out their religious duty towards Muslims, and to be a role model and a shining example to follow in behavior, conduct and wisdom, stressing the importance of adhering to the approach of moderation, and spreading tolerance, dialogue and coexistence.

His Eminence Dr. Anwar Getsic expressed his great thanks and great appreciation to His Excellency the Secretary General for his kind reception, warm welcome and useful directions, and for providing this good opportunity for imams to visit the Academy, confirming his keenness to enhance cooperation and communication with Muslim communities.

At the end of the visit, His Excellency led the delegation on a tour of all the departments and divisions of the Academy, during which he gave them an overview of the Academy and its modus operandi and distributed to them a selection of its most important publications to give them an idea of ​​its various activities and projects. The guests thanked His Excellency for the welcome they received and praised what they heard during His Excellency’s speech of lofty meanings and valuable lessons that will guide them during the performance of their duties in Serbia.
