The delegation of the Ummah’s scholars visiting Afghanistan headed by His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), held a consultative meeting with their Excellencies, ambassadors and representatives of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) accredited to Afghanistan, on Monday 21 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1443H, corresponding to 20 June 2022G, upon its arrival in Kabul to meet with officials of the current authority in Afghanistan.
The meeting began with an opening speech by H.E. Ambassador Tariq Bakhit, the OIC’s Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs and the Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan, where he thanked the ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions for accepting the OIC’s invitation to meet with the delegation of the Ummah’s scholars who had just arrived in Kabul Under the leadership of His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, in implementation of the decision of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the OIC in its extraordinary session in Islamabad last December. Then His Excellency the Secretary General of the Academy, head of the delegation, spoke about the importance of this visit, which is the first of its kind for Muslim scholars since the current authority assumed the reins of government in Afghanistan. He thanked the ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic representations for attending this meeting, which aims to inform them about the mission of the delegation, and the message that it would like to convey to the current authority, noting in the meantime that the delegation looked forward to hearing their suggestions and ideas to enable it to achieve the desired goals of the visit.
Subsequently, each of the ambassadors and representatives presented their views and suggestions to the delegation, wishing it success in its mission.
The meeting was attended by ambassadors and representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Turkish Republic, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Director of the OIC’s office in Kabul, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al Ayyash.
