Iranian Foreign Minister receives Secretary-General of the Academy in Tehran

H.E. Prof. Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, received H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the Academy, on the evening of Monday, 17th Rabi’ al-Awwal 1445, corresponding to October 2, 2023, in the capital, Tehran.

The Minister welcomed His Excellency and thanked him for his participation in the thirty-fourth global conference organized by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), and praised the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two institutions, expressing his gratitude and appreciation of the Republic for IIFA’s appreciated efforts in promoting the values of moderation, tolerance and coexistence in general, and in the field of rapprochement between Islamic sects in particular, he took this opportunity to affirm the support of his government and the people, for IIFA in its capacity as one of the leading and distinguished scientific institutions. His Excellency concluded his speech by expressing his aspiration for further relations of cooperation and partnership between IIFA and Iran-based institutions, organizations, universities and scientific centers in the coming days, God Almighty willing.
For his part, His Excellency the Secretary-General expressed his sincere thanks, and utmost appreciation to the government and people of the Islamic Republic for the generous support and hospitality since his arrival with the accompanying delegation to Tehran, expressing his special thanks to H.E. Sheikh Dr. Hamid Al-Shahriari, Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST), for inviting him to participate in the conference. His Excellency congratulated the Minister on his great efforts in restoring relations of love and brotherhood between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that the credit for this goes to Allah and then to the sincere hard work, skill and wisdom that His Excellency and his team display in Diplomatic work. Then His Excellency took the opportunity to express his condolences on the death of the late Ayatollah Muhammad Ali Tashkhiri, may Allah have mercy on him, a former representative of Iran to the Council of the Academy, praising his blessed contributions to the advancement of the Academy and raising it to the level it occupies today in the world as the highest global juristic authority for the OIC member states and Muslim communities. His Excellency presented a brief overview of the Academy’s vision, mission, and objectives, pointing out the Academy’s most important achievements, initiatives, and aspiration to strengthen relations of cooperation, communication, and partnership with Iranian scientific institutions and centers, especially those active in the field of spreading the values of moderation, tolerance, and coexistence around the world.

The two parties exchanged cordial conversations about ways to support IIFA and enable it to carry out its activities, initiatives, and programs with ease, and they exchanged souvenirs.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohamed Al-Fahri, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Mansi, Head of the Protocol Department of the Academy, and by Mr. Muhammad Reda Mortazavi, representative of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST).
