His Eminence Sheikh Aziz Jan Mansurov

Born in 1944 in Ferghana, Republic of Uzbekistan, Sheikh Aziz Jan Mansurov (Abdelaziz Mansoor) received his primary education at the Tashkent Islamic High School, which was later named after Imam al-Bukhari, and studied at the Islamic University of the Republic of Sudan. His Eminence was appointed as representative member of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in 2007 His Eminence held many important positions and functions, including executive secretary of the editorial board of the magazine “Muslims of the Soviet East”; head of the Fatwa Department in the Religious Council, researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies; head of the publishing house “Movarunaher”; head of the Religious Affairs Committee in the Council of Ministers; state advisor to the President Uzbekistan; Vice-President of the Islamic University of Tashkent; Vice-President of the Center for Islamic Civilization; and Vice-President of the Islamic Council of Uzbekistan. His Eminence has participated as a researcher and lecturer in many regional and international conferences. His Eminence is also reputed for his interpretation and translation of the Holy Quran into Uzbek and Russian, in addition to translating many Islamic books from Arabic and Persian into Uzbek and Russian, the four languages which he speaks fluently.
