Born in 1942 in Lahj governorate in Yemen, H.E. Sheikh Muhammad Abdu Omar received his primary, preparatory and secondary education in Makkah and Madinah. His Eminence graduated from the Islamic University of Madinah in 1969, another bachelor’s degree in 1974, a Master’s degree in Usul al-Fiqh from Al-Azhar University in 1976, and a degree in Law from the Arab League Institute in 1976. His Eminence has held several important positions such as Head of the Supreme Court in Shabwa Governorate in Yemen; Advisor to the Minister of Justice in Aden Governorate; Head of the Social Judiciary; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance in Yemen; Founding member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and member of the Association of Scholars in Yemen. His Eminence has participated in numerous courses and conferences and is the author of several research papers, books and publications in various fields, the most important of which are: the sources of Sharia; the objectives of Sharia; the position of fatwa in Islam; the blood money of women in Islam; the rights of women in Islam; dialogue in Islam; fanaticism and extremism.
