H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received H.E. Prof. Noura bint Zaid Mubarak Al-Rashoud, Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), at his office in Jeddah, on Wednesday 22 Rajab 1446, corresponding to 22 January 2025.
H.E. Prof. Noura Al-Rashoud expressed her thanks and appreciation to the Secretary General of the Academy for the warm welcome and commended the Academy’s esteemed position in the conscience of Muslims in the East and West, due to its unblemished reputation, outstanding scientific status, and positive impact on Muslims’ lives. She also expressed the Human Rights Commission’s interest in strengthening cooperation and coordination in areas that serve the aspirations of both institutions in the study of current developments and exchange of expertise in human rights.
To fulfill this aspiration, Her Excellency suggested that the Secretary General of the Academy sign a cooperation agreement between the Academy and the Commission. This agreement would establish the specific areas of cooperation between the two entities, with a particular emphasis on the rights of women, children, and the elderly.
For his part, the Secretary General greeted his esteemed guest and thanked her for this visit and for her willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Academy. He then gave a brief presentation on the Academy, as the leading juristic authority for the OIC member states, which is entrusted to clarify Sharia rulings on contemporary issues and developments, including human rights and obligations, as Islam has preceded contemporary international constitutions and charters in regulating, defining and caring for, and commanding their preservation and full implementation.
In the Book of Honors, the esteemed guest expressed her gratitude for visiting the Academy, stating, “I had the privilege of visiting the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, where I had the opportunity to meet with the Secretary General. We discussed the critical issues at the forefront of the Human Rights Commission’s concerns, which were discussed by the Academy and are dedicated to the most significant resolutions that affect the entire Islamic world. I thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating dialogue and the wonderful meeting, which has opened up new opportunities for constructive cooperation that prioritizes religion and addresses the concerns of Member states.”
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Mondher Chouk, Director of Cabinet and Protocols, Mr. Mohammed Walid Al-Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations, Mrs. Sarah Amjad Hussein, Director of Family, Women, Children, and Elderly Affairs and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Mansi, Head of Protocols.
