The IIFA regains the name of the Secretariat-General of the Academy
5 December، 2020

After his return from Niamey, the capital of the Republic of Niger, and his participation in the meetings of the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Muslim countries, held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Friday and Saturday 12-13 of Rabi ‘al-Akhir 1442, corresponding to 27-28 November 2020, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Mustapha Sano said that the amended Statute of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy was approved; and the name of the Secretariat of the Academy changed to Secretariat-General of the Academy, and the name of the Secretary of the Academy changed to the Secretary-General of the Academy.

The amended statute included a precise adjustment of the vision, mission, values, objectives, and means of the Academy, as well as a clear formulation of the tasks, functions and powers of the organizational structure of the Academy, which is represented by the Bureau Commission, the Council, the personnel, as well as the Secretariat-General of the Academy.

It is worth noting that the first Statute of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy was also approved in Niamey, the capital of the Republic of Niger, during the Conference of Foreign Ministers of Muslim Countries held from 22 to 26 August 1982. This meeting approved at that time the designation of the Secretariat of the Academy as the Secretariat-General of the Academy, and the Secretary of the Academy as the Secretary-General of the Academy.

The situation lasted for almost a quarter of a century (24 years) until 2006, when the name of the Secretariat-General of the Academy was changed to the Secretariat of the Academy, and the name of the Secretary-General of the Academy to Secretary of the Academy, due to subjective considerations.

However, now, thanks to Allah the Almighty, the Academy, after fourteen years, regained the original names of its inception, namely: the name of the Secretariat-General of the Academy, and the name of the Secretary-General of the Academy, also in Niamey, in the Republic of Niger.

Praise to Allah before and after
