Visit of the Secretary General of the Academy to the Jeddah-based Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission

As part of the efforts of the Secretariat General of the Academy to strengthen cooperation and coordination with the OIC subsidiary and specialized agencies, a delegation from the Secretariat General of the Academy headed by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano visited the headquarters of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Committee in Jeddah on Thursday morning 16 Rajab 1442, corresponding to 18 February 2021. The delegation was received by H.E. Mr. Margoub Salim, Executive Director of the Commission.

During the meeting, both parties discussed aspects and areas of cooperation between the two institutions. His Excellency reiterated the willingness of the Secretariat General of the Academy to provide intellectual and Shariah support to the Commission, particularly in regard to clarifying the Shariah provisions on the documents and resolutions issued by regional and international organizations in the field of human rights.

His Excellency also expressed the Academy’s willingness to include the Commission’s various questions in the future themes of the Academy’s sessions, conferences, and seminars with a view to issue resolutions and recommendations regarding their Shariah provisions.

For his part, the Executive Director thanked His Excellency for this visit and expressed the Commission’s willingness to strengthen the cooperation and communication relations with the Academy in all areas of common interest. He also expressed his deep gratitude for the jurisprudential and intellectual support that the Academy provides to the Commission through its members’ participation in its various seminars and meetings.

The delegation included Mr. Mohamed Mondher Chouk, director of cabinet and protocol, Mr. Amjad Mustafa Ibrahim, head of the protocols division, and Ms. Sarah Amjad Hussein, supervisor of public relations.
