Secretary General of the Academy receives Cameroonian Minister of Territorial Administration

His Excellency Mr. Atanga Njie, Minister of Regional Administration of the Republic of Cameroon, visited the headquarters of the Secretariat General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy on Tuesday 14 Rajab 1446, corresponding to 14 January 2025. His Excellency and the accompanying delegation were received by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, who welcomed him and expressed his sincere thanks for this visit and his gratitude to the Republic of Cameroon for its support and patronage of the Academy since its inception.

His Excellency also praised the remarkable efforts of His Excellency Mr. Iya Tijani, Ambassador of the Republic of Cameroon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for his effective and influential presence at various meetings and gatherings held by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). His Excellency then presented his guest with a detailed overview of the Academy’s vision, mission, objectives, activities, initiatives, and various programs through which it seeks to promote moderation, tolerance, coexistence, and harmony among followers of religions and sects, and reject excesses, intolerance, extremism, terrorism and violence in all their forms. He also expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation, partnership, and coordination between the Academy and the scientific, intellectual, and religious institutions and centers of the Republic of Cameroon.

His Excellency the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Academy for its efforts in favor of the “middle path”, particularly in promoting the culture of moderation, tolerance, coexistence, and harmony among the followers of religions and sects, as well as the fight against extremism, intolerance, terrorism and violence in all its forms. He also thanked His Excellency for his warm welcome and appreciated the detailed information he provided on the Academy’s vision, mission, and objectives. He also praised the important role of the Academy, its moderate and unblemished thought and its remarkable efforts to spread moderation, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among religions. He also expressed his hope that the Academy would support the country’s efforts to strengthen cooperation among Islamic organizations and associations, especially with regard to determining the beginning and end of the months of Ramadan, Shawal and Dhul Hijja, calling on the Academy to help resolve this issue that arises among Muslims every year. He also expressed his desire to consolidate the cooperation and coordination between the Academy and the leading religious institutions in Cameroon to serve the noble humanitarian objectives that promote collaboration and dialogue among peoples.

His Excellency the Minister concluded the visit by writing in the golden book, “I was received by the Secretary General of the Academy, and it was an important meeting between us and I believe that this meeting will strengthen the means of cooperation and coordination between us”.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Mondher Chouk, Director of Cabinet and Protocols; Mrs. Sarah Amjad Hussein, Director of Family, Women and Children Affairs; Dr. Alhaji Manta Drameh, Head of International Cooperation and External Relations; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Mansi, Head of Protocos Division.
