The Academy participates in the Independent Human Rights Commission (OIC) symposium on the Care and Protection of the Rights of People with Special Needs

Dr. Ismail Cebeci, head of the research and encyclopedias division represented the Academy in the scientific debate organized by the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission on Tuesday 17 Shaaban 1442, corresponding to 30 March 2021, entitled: Care and Protection of the Rights of People with Special Needs.

Dr. Ismail Cebeci gave an appreciable lecture, explaining thoroughly the rights of this segment of society in Islam and made it clear that the noble Islamic law preserves the rights of people with special needs and provides them a decent life without exclusion from society. He also discussed in his lecture the importance of preserving the five necessities, including the preservation of religion, reason, progeny, life, and property. He said that the society is responsible for providing and protecting these necessities for people with special needs and allow them to live with dignity and happiness like the rest of the society.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Cebeci answered questions from the participants on the jurisprudential issues related to people with special needs.

It is worth noting that meeting was attended by representatives from the OIC Secretariat General and the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center (SESRIC-OIC), as well as observers from countries and international institutions interested in human rights.
