Statement on Current Events in Lebanon

Praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the worlds, may the blessings and peace be upon our master Muḥammad, the last of prophets, on his family, and all his companions.

The Secretariat of the Academy of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, based in Jeddah, on behalf of all the scholars and jurists of the Ummah, strongly condemns the aggression against the Lebanese people, which affects its vital and necessary infrastructure.

In order to stop this unjust aggression and bloodshed, the Council Secretariat calls on the international organizations responsible for maintaining international peace and security and defending human rights to rush to stop this aggression against the Lebanese people.

In order to mitigate the effects of this aggression and suffering of the Lebanese people, the Secretariat of the Academy calls upon the Muslim countries in particular, and the human community in general, to expedite relief and aid for Lebanon and to launch the reconstruction of their completely destroyed and shattered infrastructure. Allah said: « And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty. » Al-Ma’ida -2

The Secretariat of the Academy commends the efforts of some Muslim countries to stop this aggression, as well as the rescue and aid operations that alleviate the effects left by the Israeli crimes. It also commends the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsan Uglu, in this regard.

In vigorously denouncing this savage repression, the Academy presents its condolences and expresses its full solidarity with the Lebanese people, their president and government, and the victims. We implore Allah the Almighty to grant a speedy recovery to the injured, that Lebanon regains its stability and peace; may Allah preserve the region and the whole world from the horrors of war whose results are only devastation and damage.

And may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.
