To ensure further coordination, follow-up and corroboration of the activities and programs organized by the General Secretariat of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, chaired the sixtieth weekly meeting of the directors of the Academy’s departments on Monday 30 Jumada Al-Ula 1443H corresponding to 03 January 2022 at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.
His Excellency opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees, thanking them for their commitment to participate in the weekly meetings, and congratulating all the employees of the Academy for the new administrative year, wishing them success, and looking forward to the departments and divisions being able to implement the provisions of the strategic plan in a smooth, coordinated, and accurate manner.
His Excellency also spoke about the importance of providing the members of the Academy with the correct and broad knowledge of the universal principles and the supreme purposes of Shariah, and called on them to be open to the jurisprudence of the respected Islamic schools in issues of ijtihad, adherence to the approach of moderation, and the promotion of a culture of tolerance and peaceful coexistence between societies and peoples, indicating in this context the importance of informing the members of the Academy of the views of the various schools of jurisprudence, exerting broad-mindedness, and acceptance of the other, while staying away from all forms of extremism, heresy and blasphemy.
The meeting resulted in several decisions, the most important of which are:
- Holding a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Academy’s Waqf Fund during the month of January.
- Starting preparations for holding a seminar on Fatwas in Muslim Societies: Challenges and Prospects, during the month of February, in cooperation with the World Muslim Communities Council.
