37th Periodic Meeting of Division Heads
12 May، 2022

On Thursday 11 Shawwal 1443H corresponding to 12 May 2022G, His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the thirty-sixth periodic meeting of division heads, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Jeddah.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Secretary General welcomed the heads of divisions, thanking them for their regular attendance at these important periodic meetings that discuss the new issues of the Academy and put them for debate, in addition to following up on the implemented activities and programs. Then His Excellency spoke about his participation in the Hashemite Councils that were held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Islamic Cultural Center of King Abdullah I Mosque in the capital, Amman, where he gave a lecture entitled “The Signs of the Judgment Day” in the hadith of Jibril, noting that he had reached a number of important scientific results about this hadith, by referring to the various hadith narrations that helped to understand it accurately. His Excellency also expressed his thanks to His Majesty the Hashemite King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, and to his Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah, and to all members of the Hashemite family, for their invitation to him to participate in these prestigious scientific councils. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the King, Government and people of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for their keenness to organize these prestigious scientific councils during the holy month of Ramadan.

Then His Excellency spoke about his visit to Abu Dhabi, and his participation in the Islamic Unity Conference, where he delivered a keynote speech in which he spoke about the Ummah’s need to correct the concept of unity and replace with the concept that unity is in fact a unity in diversity and diversity in unity. The desired unity is actually the unity of the unity of feelings, and the unity of rituals. This unity does not in any way mean the unification of the Islamic peoples into one state, but rather the existence of peoples is a divine rule that is inevitable, and the modern national states are a faithful translation of God’s saying: [O people, we have created you male and female, and we have made you peoples and tribes to get to know each other]. The multiplicity of peoples and tribes is a universal rule, and it means the multiplicity of countries, homelands and states.

The meeting discussed the items of decisions issued by the previous meeting, and several new decisions were issued, the most important of which are:

  • Preparing a concept for holding a symposium on the organization of Islamic charitable work, and issues like (immigration, asylum, and displacement) in preparation for the issuance of resolutions on them by the Academy
  • Call for papers to researchers in preparation to hold a specialized symposium entitled: “The Family Foundation: Challenges and Prospects”.
  • Follow-up and sending the revised issues of the Academy’s Journal to the printing press to coordinate and determine the printing cost, in order to save time and in preparation for printing it before the 25th Session.
