His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the forty-fifth periodic meeting of the heads of the divisions of the Academy, on Thursday 16 Rabi` al-Thani 1444H, corresponding to 10 November 2022G, via video technology from his residence in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
His Excellency opened the meeting by welcoming the heads of divisions and thanking them for their appreciated efforts in accomplishing the tasks entrusted to them, then he noted the necessity of intensifying these meetings and perhaps even merging them with the rest of the periodic meetings, in order to ensure good preparation for the next session, and the importance of informing the heads of divisions periodically of all developments and issues related to the session, which are supposed to be completed in a timely manner.
His Excellency then spoke about the subject of his working visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he is participating in the ninth meeting of the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, which is being held this year in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of more than 500 international political, religious, intellectual, and media personalities. He also talked about the cooperation agreement concluded by the Academy with UAE Council for Fatwa on the sidelines of the forum.
Then the attendees discussed the items on the agenda of the meeting, and the discussions resulted in a number of new decisions, including:
- Sending letters of thanks and appreciation to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE Council for Fatwa and the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum for their hospitality and honoring of the delegation headed by His Excellency the Secretary General.
- Addressing the UAE Council for Fatwa regarding hosting the next session of the Academy in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
- Expedite the preparation and coordination of the Academy’s Biographies book so that it can be printed on time for distribution during the Academy’s 25th session.
