Born in 1940 in Marawi in the Republic of Sudan, H.E. Sheikh Prof. Ahmed Khaled Babeker obtained a Bachelor of Literature from Cairo University, Khartoum branch, a Master of Arabic Language from the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Arts, and a PhD from Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah.
His Excellency held a number of scientific and administrative positions in his country Sudan and abroad, the most important of which include as the Secretary General of Sudan’s Islamic Fiqh Academy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awqaf, Director of the University of the Holy Qur’an and Islamic Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the University of the Holy Qur’an, member of the Fatwa Council, Head of the Department of Graduate Studies at the Female Faculty of Omdurman Islamic University, Head of the Qira’at Department at the Faculty of the Holy Qur’an, Editor-in-Chief of the Holy Qur’an Journal, Member of the Committee for the Proofreading of the Holy Qur’an in Brunei Darussalam, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Holy Qur’an Society, Member of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Awqaf Authority, Member of the Supreme Council of Zakat Trustees, Member of the Board of Trustees of the International Islamic Women’s Center, Member of the Board of Trustees of Africa International University, Member of the Education Committee of the Islamic Dawah Organization.
H.E. Sheikh Prof. Ahmed Khalid Babeker was the delegate member of the Republic of Sudan in the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, then he was appointed Secretary of the Academy in 1433H/2012G, and remained Secretary of the Academy for a term of four years. His Excellency died in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1442 AH/2021 AD. May Allah forgive him and multiply his deeds and rewards.
