Director of Fatwas and Reviews participates in Int. Symposium on Jerusalem and War on Gaza
2 July، 2024

Mr. Abdullah Al-Tamimi, Director of the Department of Fatwas, Reviews and Libraries, represented the Secretary General of the Academy at the OIC’s international symposium in cooperation with the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, entitled “Jerusalem and the Gaza War: Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, Palestinian Identity and Existence Threatened with Annihilation”, at OIC’s headquarters in Jeddah on Monday 25 Dhul Hijja 1445 corresponding to 01 July 2024.

The symposium aimed to highlight the Israeli occupation’s policies of forced displacement and confiscation of Palestinian property in the city of Jerusalem by recalling the policy of judaization and placing it in a broader context of similar illegal actions elsewhere in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in light of Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, the massive and forced displacement of the Palestinian civilian population and other unhuman violations of international law.

The symposium included an opening session during which H.E. Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary General of the OIC, delivered the opening speech, and then opened the floor to representatives of OIC member states, in particular Saudi Arabia and the State of Palestine, as well as representatives of the United Nations and the Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, who also delivered their speeches on the subject.

The symposium included a round-table discussion on “Jerusalem under the War on Gaza: Challenges for Peace and Security in the Region and Beyond”, with the participation of four experts on the city of Jerusalem.
