The Academy Participates in the Proceedings of the Ninth Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference on Women

At the gracious invitation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, represented by Dr. Al-Hajj Manta Dramey, Director of the Department of Planning, Development and International Cooperation, participated in the proceedings of the ninth session of the Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Women.

The conference was held in the capital, Islamabad, on Monday and Tuesday, 27 and 28 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to 13 and 14 July 2026, under the theme: “Social, Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Member States: Challenges and Future Prospects.” It was hosted by the Federal Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The conference was held as part of the implementation of the resolutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation aimed at strengthening the role of women and promoting their empowerment in the Member States, in line with the principles of the Organization’s Charter and the orientations reaffirmed by the Fifteenth Islamic Summit, held in Banjul, regarding the importance of enhancing the status of women and strengthening their participation in various fields of development.

The conference brought together ministers and senior officials from the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as representatives of several organs and institutions affiliated with the Organization and regional and international organizations. Participants discussed several issues relating to women’s empowerment, strengthening their role in the social, economic and political fields, and exchanging experiences and best practices among Member States, in a manner that contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The participants also commended the Academy’s scholarly and Fiqh-related role in contributing to the renewal of religious discourse, consolidating the values of moderation, balance and tolerance, and promoting Fiqh perspectives that support women’s participation in development considering the objectives of Islamic Sharia.
