Secretary-General of the Academy affirms the bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the Secretariat of the Academy

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of Academy, received in his office at the Academy, on Tuesday 17 Rabi Al-Awal 1442 corresponding to 03 November 2020, H.E. Mr. Ramadan Abdulatipov, former President of the Republic of Dagestan and the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. His Excellency extended his congratulations to Prof. Koutoub Sano on the occasion of his assumption of office as Secretary General of the Academy.

During the conversation, their Excellencies exchanged views on the bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the Secretariat General of the Academy. The Secretary-General of the Academy took the opportunity of the visit to reiterate to his guest that Islam is a religion of peace which calls its followers to respect peaceful coexistence among the followers of religions. He also reiterated the importance that Islam attaches to the respect of human life and dignity; and given the urgent need to combat extremism and fanaticism throughout the world, the activities of the Academy are generally oriented towards promoting moderation in order to create an environment of peace, cohesion and harmony among the followers of other religions.

H.E. Mr. Ramadan Abdulatipov expressed the willingness of the Russian Federation to strengthen cooperation ties between the Academy and Islamic institutions in Russia. On the other hand, the Secretary-General requested His Excellency to consider holding scientific meetings with scholars of the Russian Federation, especially those led by His Eminence, the Mufti of Dagestan Sheikh Ahmad Haji Afandi Abdulaev.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Academy undertook to provide copies of the publications of the Academy to researchers and scholars of the Islamic institutions in the Russian Federation. H.E Mr. Ramadan Abdulatipov thanked H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano for the warm welcome extended to him, and presented him a souvenir.

He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
