8th weekly Meeting of Departments’ Directors

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Sano opened on Monday 15 Rabi` al-Akhir 1442 corresponding to 30 November 2020, the eighth weekly meeting of the directors of the Academy’s departments, held by videoconferencing.

After welcoming the participants, His Excellency spoke of the great success of the Conference of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member states in Niger on Friday and Saturday 12-13 of Rabi al-Akhir 1442, corresponding to 27-28 November 2020, by auguring well to the Secretariat-General of the Academy that – with the grace of Allah the Almighty – the amendments to the Statutes of the Academy have all been approved; the most important of which concerns the change of the name of the “Secretariat of the Academy” to ” Secretariat-General of the Academy” and the name “Secretary of the Academy” to “Secretary-General of the Academy”.

His Excellency commended the outstanding efforts of the late H.E. Prof. Abdulsalam al-Abbadi and his team whose results led to this fruitful and blessed effort. His Excellency also congratulated all the personnel of the Academy for the completion of the brochure in the three languages as well as the newsletter which was widely distributed until the English copies ran out.

His Excellency also thanked Mr. Mohamed Silla Al-Bachir, Head of the Warehouse and Library Division, for his remarkable efforts to facilitate the procedures and the successful participation of His Excellency in the Conference of the Foreign Ministers of Muslim Countries.

The meeting reached some decisions, the most important of which are the following:

-To organize the first scientific forum between the Academy and the members of the Shariah Councils in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries on 6/5/1442, corresponding to 21/12/2020.

-To organize a specialized jurisprudential economic symposium on the corona pandemic and present a general concept of it by January 2021.

-To inform the official authorities of the headquarters country and the Member states about the approval of the amended statute of the Academy in its final form.

Secretary‑General of the Academy Visits the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan His Excellency Professor Dr. Qutb Mustafa Sano, Secretary‑General of the Academy, paid an official visit on 29 Sha‘ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 17 February 2026, to the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Jeddah. His Excellency and his accompanying delegation were received by His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Salah Sobhi Hameed, Consul General and Permanent Representative of Jordan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, who welcomed him warmly and expressed his pleasure at the visit. He praised the distinguished intellectual efforts undertaken by the Academy under His Excellency’s leadership in addressing numerous religious and intellectual issues of concern to the Islamic world, affirming his personal honor in meeting His Excellency again and Jordan’s keenness to strengthen channels of communication and cooperation with the Academy, especially in areas of mutual interest. For his part, His Excellency expressed his deep gratitude and great appreciation to the Ambassador for the warm reception and generous hospitality. He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
