53rd Weekly Meeting of Departments Directors

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the fifty-third weekly meeting of the directors of the Academy’s departments on Monday, 10 Rabi’ al-Thani 1443H, corresponding to 15 November 2021G, at the headquarters of the Secretariat General in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

His Excellency opened the meeting praising Allah, welcomed the attendees, and thanked them for their regular attendance at the meetings. Then His Excellency spoke about the Fiqh economic symposium on cryptocurrencies held by the Academy recently, renewing his congratulations to everyone on the success of the symposium, noting the importance of organizing an urgent meeting to evaluate the symposium in all its aspects. His Excellency also called on all departments to start preparing for the upcoming symposia of the Academy and to prepare well for them early to ensure their success.

Then His Excellency spoke about the necessity of meticulous financial planning for the activities and programs of the Academy to ensure that they are properly financed through activating the partnerships that the Academy has recently concluded with some active regional institutions in areas of common interest. His Excellency focused on the need to diversify the venues for holding the Academy’s events inside and outside the member states so that the Academy reaches directly and effectively to all segments of Muslims around the world.

Then the meeting discussed the items of the decisions issued by the previous meeting, and the follow-up of what has been achieved. Several decisions were issued by the meeting, the most important of which are:

  • Organizing a specialized seminar on Fatwas in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Prospects, during the first quarter of 2022.
  • Starting the call for papers regarding Iftaa Symposium in Muslim Communities.
  • Establishing a database for the participants in all the events of the Academy, each according to their specialization, to be used in the upcoming scientific programs.
