The meeting started with a welcoming speech by Prof. Shukran Abdel Rahman, Dean of the College, in which he expressed his sincere thanks to His Excellency for accepting the College’s invitation to discuss aspects of possible cooperation and partnership between the Academy and the International Islamic University on the one hand, and between the Academy and Abdul Hamid Abu Suleyman College of Revealed Knowledge on the other hand, considering the symbolism and position of this college among the university’s colleges, as it is truly the beating heart of the university, and the ideal and applied model for the Islamic ideas of knowledge and the integration of sciences, as it is considered the largest college in terms of the number of departments, students and study programs. His Excellency also expressed his personal desire, and that of his fellow college deputies and heads of departments, to benefit from His Excellency’s sober and rich experiences in the academic and political fields, as His Excellency had previously taught in this college for sixteen (16) years, during which he held senior administrative positions at the university, the last of which was the position of the university’s vice president for external relations and innovations. After leaving the university, His Excellency worked as Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of International Cooperation, then Minister of Diplomatic Affairs and Diplomatic Adviser at the Presidency of the Republic of Guinea for twelve (12) years, in addition to his current work as Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, which represents a new experience to be added to his previous experiences. He concluded by expressing the college’s aspiration for close cooperation with the Academy, especially in the field of research and studies, and the participation of the College’s staff in conferences and seminars of the Academy from time to time.

For his part, His Excellency delivered his speech expressing his great thanks, appreciation, and gratitude to his dear brother, His Excellency the Dean of the College, and to his colleagues for this opportunity that enabled him to return again to this college, for which he carries so much love and many beautiful memories that are hard to forget. His Excellency also thanked His Excellency the Dean in particular for his personal keenness to promote awareness of the idea of Islamic knowledge by teaching it and formulating courses in the light of its foundations and principles, as it is an important civilized project to guide and rationalize science in order to become a tool for reconstruction and reform. He also thanked him for his keenness to implement the idea of integration between Shariah sciences and humanities by returning to the unique dual specialization system that allows young people to combine specialization in one of the departments of Revealed knowledge with one of the humanities departments, stressing that this system is considered the ideal way to prepare a generation of intellectuals and scholars who are balanced in thought and behavior, combining authenticity and modernity, and capable of bringing about positive change in society. His Excellency then explained that the years of his work at the university as a professor and administrator were among the best years of his life in terms of psychological stability, devotion to thought, writing and publishing, and serving the Muslim Ummah by participating in the rehabilitation and preparation of a generation of young people who occupy today high leadership and administrative positions in their societies as a result of their excellence and superiority. His Excellency also made it clear that the years of his work in the political field were also an opportunity in which he increased his certainty of the possibility of change and reform if the intentions were sincere and the reasons for empowerment and influence were taken into account.

His Excellency concluded by pointing out that his current work as Secretary General of the Academy, which represents the largest Shariah reference for the Ummah, and the greatest contemporary intellectual body, is another challenge and a good opportunity for him to harness his academic and political experience to achieve the desired reform and the desired change in thought and behavior in the service of Islam and the Ummah all over the world.

At the end of the meeting, His Excellency exchanged gifts with His Excellency the Dean and took photos with the college management.
