Born in 1943 in Amman in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, H.E. Prof. Abdulsalam Dawood Al-Abadi obtained a high degree in Islamic law from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the University of Damascus, then obtained his master’s and doctorate degrees in comparative jurisprudence from the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University in Egypt.
His Excellency held several scientific and administrative positions in his country, Jordan, and abroad, the most important of which include as Minister of Islamic Affairs, Awqaf, and Holy Places, Secretary of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, Secretary General of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ahlu-Bayt University, and Director General of the Orphans’ Funds Development Foundation. The late Prof. Abdulsalam Daoud Al-Abbadi is the author of numerous works on ifta, Islamic studies, and jurisprudential research.
H.E. Prof. Abdulsalam Dawood Al-Abadi was the delegate member of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and was appointed the second Secretary-General of the Academy in 1430 AH / 2009 AD, then resigned after a year and a half to assume duty in his country; returned as again the Secretary-General from 1437AH/2015AD, until his death in 1442AH/2020AD in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
